Tim Kelly, MD

Tim Kelly, MD is a current Penn Addiction Medicine Fellow and an Emergency Medicine physician. He recently moved to Philadelphia after completing his Emergency Medicine residency at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City. Prior to medicine, Dr Kelly had a career in mental health research, focusing on the dissemination and implementation of evidence-based treatments. He has spent the past 15 years working with and advocating on behalf of individuals who struggle with unhealthy substance use. After his first exposure via volunteering at a needle exchange while a university student, he has been involved in the harm reduction community both by advocating for harm reduction policies, pushing for criminal justice reform, and educating medical trainees on how to embrace harm reduction as a way to improve patient care.
